The first event will be on September 16th and will be an introduction of the innovative companies we have at KLP to the valuable KEA network. KEA (Kiwi Expat Association) is a great group to get involved with – it is filled with some amazing expat kiwis who have great networks. Each company will have an opportunity to give a quick pitch explaining who they are, what they do, and what help they are looking for (intros etc…) Also in attendance will be representatives from NZTE, VCs and the Right Honourable Mike Moore.

So far at Kiwi Landing Pad we have Xero, V-Work app, Magritek all settled in.

Xero is an amazing online accounting software company that is the leading competitor to Quickbooks online. They already have over 50,000 users in over one hundred countries – and they are only just getting started in the US!!! Craig Walker, CTO and Catherine Walker, Community Manager are heading up the US team.

V-Work App  is dispatch software that runs on i-phone and Android devices. The dispatcher can simply login to the website and he/she can see all of their trucks/ vans real-time location. When they need to redirect the driver to new job this is automatically pushed through to the drivers phone – awesome!! Aish Fenton, CTO has made the move over from NZ, and is supported by his first US hire, intern Michelle.

Magritek is a technology company creating innovative products in the fields of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR)and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). So what does that mean? Well they can analys anything that has water in it – very useful in oil exploration industry. John Trail VP of product management is representing Magritek here in San Francisco.

We were delighted to be invitees to the opening ceremony for the new offices of the New Zealand Ministry of Science and Innovation (MSI).

Prime Minister John Key officially opened the office followed by Dr Wayne Mapp, Minister for Science and Innovation announcing MSI’s generous support of Kiwi Landing Pad and a new initiative focused on supporting young Kiwi Entrepreneurs

It’s fantastic to receive such support for Kiwi Landing Pad and allows us to add much more value to our residents through services and networking within the Bay Area and US tech community.

On the 5th of July we opened to doors at the Kiwi Landing Pad (KLP). Based in the SOMA district of San Francisco, KLP is located on Level 1 of the “Project 880″ building at 880 Harrison Street.
Our first tenant to take residence is Visfleet - www.visfleet.com , an Auckland based startup taking the pain out of tracking scheduling and dispatching work for companies with vehicle fleets.
